Jesus walked a great distance in order to be baptized but there are many people who will not even walk a few steps in order to be baptized. Jesus began His ministry with His baptism and He ended His ministry by telling telling His apostles to teach and to baptize. Baptism is an essential part of obeying the gospel and Jesus emphasized its importance.
We must not let anyone to prevent us from being baptized no matter how close we are to them. We must also make sure we are baptized in the proper way. When we are baptized we become members of the family of God. And when we are baptized we gain the privilege of praying to God as well.
