Covetousness is a sin under both the Old Covenant and the New Covenant. It’s a form of idolatry. It’s the root from which many kinds of evil grow including gambling and it draws our passion away from serving God.
Gambling is a foolish way to find excitement. It can endanger the welfare of ourselves and our families. It can make us lose control of ourselves. And it can lead us to do terrible things.
