The book of Genesis covers a larger time span than all the other books of the Bible combined. Its historical purpose is to reveal the beginning of the universe of the world of humanity and of sin. Its doctrinal purpose is to tell us about God in a different way than we see Him in any other book. And its redemptive purpose is to show us that we are sinners but God has a plan.
