Speech is a great blessing but it is possible for us to abuse it. We must choose our words carefully each day because God notices each one. We will give an account of our every idle word on the day of Judgement. Profanity is an abuse of speech because it brings holy things down to man’s level. It is also abusive because it’s a plea for God to curse those whom He desires to bless. Profanity is evidence of an evil heart too. And profanity shames the name of Christ when we use it.
