David R. Shannon grew up in the Brushy community of Centerville, Tennessee. He began preaching at age 14. While at Freed-Hardeman University studying business and Bible, he met his wife, Tracie. Their children are Colton (Rachael), Lacie (Clint) Haynes, Emilie, and Rong. They have one grandchild, Maxwell Shannon.
