Introduction to Third John (Part 1)

Allen WebsterAudio

The book we know as “Third John” is a very short book but it contains some very deep lessons. It is a personal letter from the apostle John to a man names Gaius. John wrote this letter to encourage Gaius at a time when there was personal conflict within his congregation. Another purpose of this letter is to condemn the actions of a man named Diotrephes whose desire for personal glory was hurting the work of the church. In this letter John also honors Demetrius for his service to the kingdom of God. And this letter also teaches us about a powerful transition in John’s character.
