The men whom Jesus carefully chose to be His apostles provide us with an example of those He accepts as followers today. The apostles were common people. They were not chosen because they had been financially successful or held favorable social status; they were chosen because their hearts were sincere. God calls everyone to His kingdom but the common people are the most likely to obey Him.
