God allows pain in our lives from time to time in order to purify and perfect us. Suffering in itself is not proof of His displeasure. Not all suffering is the result of one’s sin; Jesus suffered but He never committed a single sin. Our pain may be caused by another person’s sin or it may not be a result of any sin at all.
