The book of Exodus records some of the responsibilities which God’s children were given after they were delivered out of Egypt. The Ten Commandments were part of the old law that God gave Moses. They were also commanded to build a tabernacle for Him so they could enter into His presence at the appropriate times.
God is interested in people but He also demands that we be interested in Him. He has given us responsibilities to take care of and rules to follow and He is jealous of the affections He rightly deserves from His people. Blood faith repentance and baptism are all necessary for Him to deliver us from sin.
The old law which we read about in Exodus is no longer in effect. But many of the commandments of the old law are repeated in Christ’s new covenant. We still follow most of the moral principles which were given in the ten commandments but instead of honoring the Sabbath we now observe the Lord’s Day.
The book of Exodus tells us how Israel came to be a nation. It also demonstrates that God has a plan and that He has the power to carry it out. It contains numerous parallels to the life of Christ.
